Aspiring Nurse Leader Scholarship

DONL is offering the 2020 Delaware Aspiring Nurse Leader Scholarship.  This $1,500 educational scholarship will be presented to two nurses who are actively pursuing a graduate degree in Nursing Leadership or Health Care Administration.

The Delaware Organization of Nurse Leaders (DONL) is an affiliate of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and its purpose is to support and develop nursing leadership addressing issues regarding nursing workforce, administration, education, research, health policy and professional practice changes.

 

DONL is offering the 2020 Aspiring Nurse Leader Scholarship.  This $1,500 educational scholarship and one-year membership in DONL will be presented to a nurse who is actively pursuing a graduate or doctoral degree in Nursing Leadership, Health Care Administration, Management, Organizational Development, Education, Executive Leadership, or Jurisprudence.

 

Scholarship Constituency

  • The scholarship recipient will be pre-screened by the DONL Scholarship Committee and then presented to the DONL membership for selection of the annual recipient.

 

Eligibility

  • Current Delaware (or compact state) RN license

  • Active employment as a Nurse in the State of Delaware

  • Current enrollment in a graduate or doctoral-level program in Nursing Leadership, Health Care Administration, Management, Organizational Development, Education, Executive Leadership, or Jurisprudence

  • Must have completed a minimum of twelve (12) credits toward degree at the time of scholarship application

  • Must have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of scholarship application

  • Demonstration of leadership in current practice (charge nurse, formal mentor, led an outcome-improvement project, council/committee leadership, professional organization leadership, volunteerism, etc.)

 

Requirements

  • All applicants must submit a 500-word (minimum) essay summarizing:

  • Professional and personal goals

  • Current and past work in preparation for a nursing leadership position

  • An example of when the applicant served as a leader and the impact it had on the patient, family, colleagues, organization, and/or themselves

  • Aspirations of becoming an effective, transformational nurse leader

  • The scholarship recipient must present a leadership topic at a bi-monthly DONL meeting in the calendar year of 2020

    • Topic must be relevant to nursing leadership (examples: quality, nurse burnout, engagement, financial, etc.)

  • One letter of recommendation from an individual able to directly comment on your leadership aspirations and work experience

 

Application Deadline

  • Applications for the 2020 Aspiring Nurse Leader Scholarship must be received by January 31st, 2020

  • Applications may be submitted online via the DONL website
